Monteverdi – L’Orfeo: favola in musica

A 400th anniversary production of Monteverdi’s great masterpiece, the first opera ever written. Directed by Caroline Stacey with Music Director Marshall McGuire, this performance is a production for the Queensland Music Festival with Ludovico’s Band and the students and staff of the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

In 2003, Marshall was awarded an inaugural Creative Fellowship from the State Library of Victoria to research the collection of Peggy Glanville-Hicks works and letters. In this concert, Suzanne Johnston and George Liakatos join Marshall in performances of MM’s arrangements of Letters from Morocco, and the Final Scene from Sappho, as well as a performance of the Sonata for Harp.
